This privacy statement covers the public sections only of the site www.srmcsociety.org. The Society of Risk Management Consultants (SRMC) created this privacy statement in order to disclose our information gathering and dissemination practices for this web site. This statement covers only information that is collected through the public section of this web site, and does not cover information that may be collected through software downloaded from this web site or from other web sites for which links may be provided from this web site or from any other sources.

Information Collection

SRMC is the sole owner of the information collected on this web site, www.srmcsociety.org. SRMC collects information from our visitors on the “Contact Us” page of the web site. In addition, there are various links throughout our web site that bring visitors to our “Contact Us” page.

We request information from the visitor on our “Contact Us” page in order to respond to specific inquiries made by or to provide materials requested by visitors of our web site. A visitor must provide contact information (such as name, email, and address).

Although personally identifiable information may be gathered through the membership application process (facilitated via the Membership Information section of our web site), that information cannot be submitted electronically and must be mailed to the Membership Committee Chair for processing. As such, although the information is used only for consideration of membership eligibility, the information is not considered to be subject this Privacy Statement.

Information Use

This information is used for responding to the inquiries and providing requested materials. Depending upon the nature of the request, the request will be forwarded to one or more SRMC Committees for reply. Contact information is not formally retained by SRMC for any purpose other than to respond to the specific inquiry of the individual submitting the contact information.

When requests are made for specific types of services that may be provided by one or more members of SRMC, the requests are shared with SRMC members via a List Server that is maintained only for members of SRMC. Once these requests have been shared with SRMC members, SRMC is no longer deemed to have possession of or control over the contact information. No controls are in place to restrict the use of the information by individual members of SRMC.

If we have trouble processing a request for materials, the information could be used to contact the visitor in an effort to clarify the contact information provided.

Log Files

The SRMC Web Site (through its Internet Service Provider) logs IP addresses and browser types for systems administration purposes. This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks in order to analyze trends, administer the site, track visitors’ movements in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses, etc. are not linked to personally identifiable information. A visitor’s session will be tracked, but the visitor will be anonymous.

Cookies

A cookie is a piece of data stored on the visitor’s computer tied to information about the visitor. This web site only uses session cookies that expire at the end of your browser session and are only used to track your current login status and last login. We do not track personal information or collect any information from a site visitor’s computer.

Sharing

Depending upon the nature of the request, certain committees and members of SRMC are provided with the collected information in order to respond to the inquiry. Beyond that, we do not share or formally retain our visitors’ information for any other purpose. We make every effort to preserve visitor privacy, but it is understood that we may need to disclose personal information when required by law or when we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order or legal process served on our web site.

Choice/Opt-out

There are no opt-out options offered to our visitors since their information is used only for the purpose of responding directly to requests for information that have been submitted to us.

This Web site contains links to other sites. Please be aware that SRMC is not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes to this privacy statement section of our web site, the homepage, and other places we deem appropriate so our visitors are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it. We will use information in accordance with the privacy policy under which the information was collected.

Since no formal log or database of visitor information is maintained by SRMC, we will not notify visitors of changes to our privacy policy e-mail.
